In addition to performing his job at an exemplary level, Dr. Malik demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to the health and wellbeing of his own community as well as communities across the globe.
Dr. Malik is a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine/Trauma Physician with over 20 years of professional experience in various hospital and healthcare leadership roles, including Director of Trauma, Chief Medical Officer, Department Chairman and CEO.
Dr. Malik is also the Director for Medical Disaster Response for Humanity First, USA and also the Course Director for Disaster Response Training (DRT).
He is an avid supporter of global humanitarian efforts and has supported several agencies delivering humanitarian relief efforts, most recently as HF EMT Medical Lead under United Nations WHO/PAHO in the Bahamas for the victims of Hurricane Dorian. He has also assisted with efforts in South America, Guatemala, Africa, Sub-Indian Continent, Bosnia, Turkey, and Indonesia.
As a frontline provider, Dr. Malik continues to fight on behalf of the most vulnerable patients, engaging in strategic efforts to address equity in healthcare and parity especially those suffering from mental illness and addiction disorders. He believes medical systems can be embedded within communities to better understand social and structural determinants of health. He has frequently served as a guest lecturer at various venues, including Harvard University, Yale University, University of Chicago, Georgetown University, and the Chicago Medical School, as well as numerous community churches, temples, and mosques on topics such as global health, disaster medicine, theology, comparative religions and shared values.
Dr. Malik received his Doctor of Medicine from the Chicago Medical School and also holds a Master of Science from the same institution. He completed his post -graduate training with Yale University School of Medicine and EM/Trauma at the Medical College of Wisconsin, while also serving as a Flight Surgeon. He is certified as a Diplomat at the American Board of Emergency Medicine and holds memberships with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and Illinois State Medical Society, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM).
He has embraced sound strategic planning principles, which have resulted in continual high quality patient care, the reduction of healthcare costs and improved physician collaboration and alignment. His unique ability to identify and build strategic alliances has positioned organizations to quickly and effectively achieve much sought-after goals.
