That includes allowing medical patients to shop at any participating dispensary statewide in order to receive their prescription.
It also outlines how telehealth can be used for patients to receive their medical cannabis, and allows patients to send a designated caregiver to pick up medical cannabis on their behalf.
Other bills passed this spring will:
- Amend existing law to state that, if a meal kit or ready-to-eat meal distribution facility is engaged in the collection, storage, packaging or distribution of meal kits direct to consumers, then the local health department has the power to enforce and observe specified rules, orders and laws.
- Require 988 information to be visible in county shelter care homes, daycares, public libraries, hospitals, universities and nursing homes. Also tasks the Illinois State Board of Education to make age-appropriate suicide prevention curriculum available for school districts.
- Require secondary schools that teach CPR classes to provide both “breasted and non-breasted” manikins.
- Require all school head coaches and chief sponsors of the sports activities to obtain training in CPR, first aid and the use of an AED. School districts would be required to conduct an annual cardiac response drill to practice the steps established in their cardiac emergency response plan.
- Establish a committee within the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to monitor developments related to toxic polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as “forever chemicals.” The group would also recommend policies and funding strategies for wastewater treatment.
