Ms. Wurth will focus her remarks on innovative programs and services being implemented by Chicago area hospitals and the changes required.  In particular, she will discuss how hospital accountable care organizations (ACOs) are integrating community health clinics and other providers into the hospital ACO.  In addition, Ms. Wurth will address the accountable care entities (ACEs) established under Public Act 98-104.  The ACEs are a new integrated model of care, including payment reforms that benefit Medicaid clients and change provider practices in Illinois.

dr wurthMaryjane Wurth has served as President & CEO of the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) since October 2009. With offices in Naperville, Springfield and Washington, D.C., IHA represents more than 200 hospitals and health systems throughout Illinois, advocating for a sustainable, patient-focused health care system that provides high-quality care and promotes healthy local communities. Under Wurth's leadership, IHA has created the Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality, established IHA's first office in Washington, D.C., and spearheaded a joint quality initiative with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to reduce Illinois hospital readmissions through Preventing Readmissions through Effective Partnerships (PREP).

Prior to joining IHA, Wurth had a 20-year career at the Healthcare Association of New York State, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and President of DataGen, its national data company. Wurth has a Master of Science degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York. She was a national Health Forum fellow in leadership and healthy communities and was a founder of the Academy for Health Care Leadership Advancement with Cornell University's Johnson School of Business.
